United Way of Metropolitan Chicago
2016 full redesign for the Chicago chapter of this worldwide non-profit. With custom issue-area and neighborhood network pages.
We first undertook a fully responsive redesign of the United Way of Metropolitan Chicago website in 2013 and while that was a huge step forward, a lot has changed since then. The 2013 redesign was still somewhat based on outdated templates from United Way Worldwide and was a bit difficult to update for non-coders. Our intent for the 2016 redesign was to leverage individualized page templates along with custom fields so that the UWMC staff could focus on the content and the site would "just work". The staff has been able to update the content on their own with little or no help from us and they couldn't be happier. We also created a completely new and customized donation form which has seen a huge rise in conversions, especially on mobile devices.
Features like "The Latest" which combines all UWMC's recent social media and blog posts, dedicated issue-area pages, a revamped advocacy portal, individual Neighborhood Network pages and full-width images site wide have engaged a new audience and revitalized United Way's community outreach.
